Among this crowd of students you may see a little bit of camouflage. They showed up at Young Life club to laugh and hear the good news of the gospel. Seems interesting that students would dress up in attire that you would normally use to hide in and show up to a place were it is safe to show your true self.
It has become apparent that teenagers are not just looking for someone who will listen to them. They are looking for a group, a community that will invite them in to experience what healthy life is like. A dynamic community that is willing to laugh and find the joy of life as well as to cry and find the hope that comes after suffering happens. Young life desires to be one of those dynamic groups. By the way dynamic only happens when Christ is at the center.
It is amazing that you can sit in a room with 80-100 teenagers and share the great new of Jesus with them and know that they are listening. These teenagers are willing to take a break from their cell phones, studies, sports practice, or whatever they have going on because their leaders have been willing to show up in their everyday lives. Their leaders are not just there on Wednesday or Thursday nights. They are with them at other times of the week. The truth is we value relationships.
You have to love middle school students. We had our first wYLd life club of the school year and look forward to having some great laughs with these kids. It will also be a joy to share with them the great news of Jesus.
