Name: Donovan Brooks (DJ)
Position: Central High School Young Life Leader

What would be the title of your autobiography?
Valley Living, Mountaintop Striving
I would title my autobiography this because Amy and I have spent much time living in the valleys of life where the brokenness of this world surfaces via pain and suffering. However, this hasn't stopped us from focusing eternally on what matters most, our relationship with Christ. We strive to reach that mountaintop or as Paul says "finish the race" and hear the warm words "Well done, good and faithful servant".

If you could eat any food right now, what would it be?
An omelette with some hash browns or fried potatoes! I'm a breakfast fanatic so it always sounds good!

What has been your favorite part about Young Life?
I've had a couple favorite parts so far. 1st, having genuine relationships with high school kids, and them accept it as genuine, has been very rewarding & encouraging. Most kids have very few meaningful relationships in their lives. I look back to my high school years and I was very naive about some of the "quality" relationships I thought I had.
My 2nd favorite part about Young Life is the community with other leaders and committee. I believe the community in itself attracts so many individuals that love Jesus. The Young Life community has always been faithful to remind each other of the divine promises from God, especially after feeling defeated pursuing kids or just life in general.

Shark diving, bungee jumping, or skydiving?
I've always wanted to go skydiving.
I was supposed to go for my bachelor party but of course the party landed on the annual national skydiving convention so everything was closed. I can't think of anything more exhilarating than free falling to the earth at 100+ miles per hour.

Who has influenced you the most?
I'm going to have to go with the cliche answer, Jesus. If you ask anyone that knew me well before I started following Jesus and after they would have to agree. No one has been more influential and life changing than the King of the Kings. I'd love to share my story with anyone who is reading this, just ask!

Name: Jenna Oswald
Position: Bode, Truman & Spring Garden Wyld Life Leader/Lafayette Young Life Leader

What would be the title of your autobiography?
It Will Get Better and So Will You.
If there's anything I've learned in my 19 years it's that people change people, and life is hard. That's why we have Jesus, and the gift he gives us of loving Him, loving each other, and loving ourselves-so that we can live in this crazy world.

What is one goal you would like to accomplish in your lifetime?
To move out of Missouri, see the world in a different way, away from the MidWest.

What has been your favorite part about being a Young Life leader?
Getting to see God move so apparently! Growing up I always heard people's stories of how they saw God in their lives, moving and working. I never really saw him clearly until I started doing Young Life. I saw him work in me, and work through me, and work in others. It's incredible-makes me feel like I have a purpose and that's why I'll never stop doing Young Life.

If you could eat any food right now what would it be?
Cinnamon toast or a big bowl of Cocoa Pebbles.

River, Lake, or Ocean?
Is that even a question? Ocean! My heart is always at the beach, but there's little pieces of it at El Rancho Rio, (my family's cabin on the southern Missouri river), and Detroit Lakes in MN (Castaway).

What accomplishments are you most proud of?
Making it out of high school alive and having a good relationship with my family. I'm proud that even in the lowest valleys of high school, I never stopped believing in Jesus, and the good things of this world, and I hope I never do. I can blame my family and the relationships I've built with them for that.

Central High School Freshman and Sophomore girls

This Christmas season, it's easy to get focused on the story of Jesus as a baby born in Bethlehem. I mean it's an amazing and beautiful story, so everyone should hear it more than a few times this season. But i'm going to also encourage you to take your thoughts further and think about how He has blessed your life and how God knew that Jesus would be the only gift we need in our lives...
God has given me the opportunity to be a part of such wonderful girls lives and I am so grateful that not only have I been given the gift of Jesus, but I've been given the gift of friendship with some truly lovely people.

just following Jesus,
Jill
